  • Biography


    Mike first came to the Eastern Panhandle in the summer of 1982 to join his wife Maria, who was then a reporter for The Journal, and to intern for the firm now known as Rice Hannis & Douglas.

    After clerking for Judge Haden, Mike returned to Martinsburg in 1987 to stay, rejoining the law firm known as Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love. In addition to the services he has rendered to the Supreme Court for the Board of Law Examiners and the Judicial Hearing Board, Mike served on the board of the Shenandoah Valley Medical Systems for 12 years, two as board president.

    Mike is currently a member of the Martinsburg Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce and belonged to the Martinsburg Rotary for several years. Mike has been married 23 years to Maria Lorensen, editor of The Journal.

    Mike and Maria, along with their two children, William and Lauree, are active parishioners at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Martinsburg.
